The Monte Berico Basilica is situated atop a hill on the suburbs of the city centre of Vicenza. This makes it a great place to visit to get a good view of the entire city of Vicenza below and is generally more tranquil than other sightseeing attractions located in the centre of Vicenza.
Although the architecture was finished in the Basilica in the 18th century only, its significance can be dated further back to hundreds of years.
It is here in this Basilica that Virgin Mary is believed to have made two miraculous appearances. This Basilica is open to public between 6.15am and 7.30pm with a break of two hours between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
The Archaeology Museum in Vicenza is not a major attraction for tourists although it does have an absorbing, if not somewhat small, collection of artefacts that were excavated locally.
